The students competed in front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly at distances of 20 and 40 metres. The morning finished with a 4x20m mixed freestyle relay and 4x20m mixed medly relay. A fantastic morning was had by all with some excellent swimming performances displayed by our students. Well done to all students involved:

School Games Football Competition
St Mary’s attended the Sainsbury’s School Games Year 7 football competition held at Kenton School. The competition was well attended which created a fantastic tournament. The girls played really well, having never played as a team before. I was impressed with their team spirit and supportive attitude. Emilia Keavney and Finola Clarke alternated as the goal keeper, preventing some excellent shots from the opposition. Lucy Hobbs, Georgia Richardson, Megan Carmichael and Dani Gansore were the backbone of the team, creating superb opportunities. Finola Clarke also received the school games effort award.
Well done to all the girls who attended.

Year 7 and 8 Boys Table Tennis Tournament
Tuesday the 19th of November saw St Mary’s host the Sainsbury’s School Games Table Tennis Tournament for Year 7 and 8 boys. The team was an extremely difficult one to pick as so many pupils wanted to play. After final selections were made the pupils eagerly awaited the arrival of the other competing schools. The evening definitely didn’t disappoint, with close fought matches across the board, with a competitive but sporting atmosphere throughout. St Marys were represented by Andrew Taylor, Aiden O’Toole, Joe Boyle, Jake Wilson, Kieran Bates and Rory Restall. The boys were a credit to themselves and the school and I was proud to be involved in such an event.
