St Mary’s Sixth Form students are celebrating after picking up their fantastic A level results today.
The overall pass rate for A levels was 98%. An outstanding 30% of all A level entries were A*/A. 57% of entries were A*/B and 79% A*/C. All of these results are well above the national averages.
Furthermore, the average A Level grade achieved by St Mary’s students was a B, whereas the average grade achieved in schools nationally is a C. Remarkably, 13 of St Mary’s A level students each achieved straight A*/As in their A levels, which is an incredible achievement.
The above results are even more remarkable given that our Year 13 students, due to recent national changes to examinations, were the first year group in recent years to complete all of the more challenging two-year A Level courses, with no AS or modular elements to support their achievement.
Vocational A levels were equally impressive. The pass rate was 100% and an incredible 63% of entries were Distinctions or starred Distinctions, with 100% at Merit level or higher. 50% of St Mary’s students studying vocational qualifications achieved Distinctions or starred Distinctions in all of their qualifications, which is also a fantastic achievement.
Students and parents are full of praise for our outstanding teachers and support staff for the excellent teaching and guidance given over the past two years.
Most of our students will now continue their studies at universities throughout the UK and a smaller number will go into the world of work, via apprenticeships. We congratulate each one of them on their excellent results and wish them all the best for the future.
